Home, sweet ????

Just woke up.
2 pm.
Oh goodness.
I like my bed,
but it is strange,
because I left all of my usual covers at school.
So I am using an old sleeping bag as a coverlet.
And I don't have rolly pig.
All that is fine.
For three weeks.

I'm reading the blog
and feeling blessed
as always
by the difference between
all of us
and our gifts
I am also reading the blog
and laughing
laughing at the difference
between my traveling stories
and Mr. Bornman's

The nutshell:
Sat between
not a man, not a boy
Mr. In-Between
and
as typical as a middle aged woman can be
excuse me for being
stereotypical

Mr. In-between
hoodie
sneakers
jeans
mildly attractive
but very engrossed in
electronics
never looks up
at me
at anyone
his eyes only hit
the window
his computer
his hands
always his hands
until he sleeps
and if he ever woke up
he pretended not to

Woman
she ripped the
crossword puzzles
out of about seven issues
of People magazine
and did them all
with surprising speed and skill
right there on the short flight
frustrated when they made her
put up the tray table
but continuing even so.
With a pen.
Probably her special crossword pen.
Or maybe not.

I am always
impressed
when people do crosswords with pens.
So final.
Maybe this is because I suck at crosswords.
I require a pencil.
I definitely require a pencil

Woman:
After she finished her crosswords
proud
maybe
and sighed
twice
"Ginger Ale, no ice"
No please.
No thank you
Got a blue
Nintendo DS out of her bag
I was curious.
Was she going to play
something like Pokemon
or Sims,
things I used to use my
DS for?

She played scrabble.

I read Skymall.
Twice.
And TOOK A NAP (!)
For a few minutes.
It was a
self-consious nap.
Found this.
And cracked up.
Quietly.
LOOK AT THAT PUNK!

Train romanticism.
Plane cynicism.
Now home.

I miss you all.
But three weeks is good.
Long
but good.
